How to check if Windows is activated
Three quick ways to confirm your Windows license is active and genuine.

1. Settings
Settings → System → Activation. You should see *Windows is activated* (with a digital license or product key).
2. Command line
Open Command Prompt and run slmgr /xpr — a dialog says *The machine is permanently activated*.
3. Details
slmgr /dlv shows the edition, the last five characters of the installed key and the license status.
Not activated?
- Check the edition matches the key (a Pro key needs Windows Pro — entering it on Home upgrades you automatically).
