What is LTSC? Windows and Office LTSC explained
Long-Term Servicing Channel editions get security fixes for years without feature changes. Here is who they are for.
LTSC stands for *Long-Term Servicing Channel*. LTSC editions receive security updates for many years but no feature updates, so the system stays the same day after day.
Windows LTSC
- Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC — no Microsoft Store, no feature-update churn, minimal built-in apps. Popular for kiosks, labs, point-of-sale, studio and specialised PCs.
- Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC — similar, with an even longer support window, designed for devices and embedded systems.
Office LTSC
Office LTSC Professional Plus is the volume edition of Office with a fixed feature set: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and more, for one PC, with a one-time payment.
Is LTSC right for me?
- Yes if you want stability above all, or run specialised software that should never change.
- No if you want the newest features, Microsoft Store apps or frequent improvements — choose regular Windows 11 Pro or Office instead.
Activation
LTSC keys come as Online activation or MAK / phone activation. Phone activation uses a Confirmation ID — see our phone activation guide.
